Positive response to revised plans

Almost 100 people attended our exhibition of revised plans to regenerate the Allied Carpet site on the Goldhawk Road (London W12) on 28 and 29 March 2008.

A broad array of local residents, community representatives, Hammersmith & Fulham councillors and officers, as well as local businesses lent support to the revised plans.

Feedback forms received during the two days indicate over 70% in favour (10/14). Comments received include:

  • “Much, much better. I would not dream of complaining! Fits in very well with existing buildings.”
  • “A very big improvement on the first proposal. We have no objection”
  • “Delighted to see no provision for retail parking and like the pedestrian/vehicle dual usage as a sophisticated safety method.”
  • “Proposal significantly improved - get on and get it built.”

Following the previous consultation, certain key concerns were the spur for significant changes to the proposed mixed-use development. Enhanced parking access to lessen traffic impact was cited as a key improvement. Notable approval was also given to the reduced building height and bulk; lessening the visual impact and to the greater aesthetic sensitivity of the building to the local environment.

Clive Killick, Head of Delivery at Network Housing Group said: “We have worked hard to respond to a number of issues and we were very encouraged by the support and endorsement received during the exhibition and are confident that the revised plans are now definitely on the right track."

A few suggestions were made that will be taken into consideration for example removal of the down-pipe on Goldhawk Road and landscaping measures along the Goldhawk Road frontage.

What happens next?
12 April is the last day for submitting feedback by post. A full report will be made once this deadline has passed; astatement of community involvement will be prepared and will be included as a part of the planning submission.

A presentation and question and answer session is being arranged for the Cathnor Park Residents Association AGM to be held on 23 April. Click here for more information.
